1931 National Style 0
This is an early, rare, "variation 1" bell-brass Style 0 as described in pages 84 - 87 of the Bob Brozman book "The History and Artistry of National Resonator Instruments". Both collectible and highly playable, this Style O features original tuners, nut, frets, coverplate and tailpiece but a 1937 cone. Good action for both slide and standard style playing. The tone: standback - it's loud and sweet. A particularly fine sounding example of this classic model. Bob played it when he was in Canberra in 2004 and declared it a winner. Newer Martin deluxe hard case. |

1936 Dobro Style 37G
A one-owner pre-war round-neck Dobro, serial number 8091 indicatings a 1936 Los Angeles made instrument. All-mahogany body, binding top and back and bound neck - the upmarket version of the Style 37. The back has attractive flame. Cone, spider, tuners, frets etc all original and good cond, neck joint is tight, action medium, works for standard or slide. Rout in top holds a Hofner pickup with built-in volume control, sounds very authentic through an amp. Some knocks and scratches; price reflects this and the rout. Circa 1939 Master Lap Steel
A very unusual and perfectly functional very early Australian-made lap steel, the "Master" features a hot pickup with 6 individual windings (one for each string; two recently rewound so pickup works perfectly), volume and tone plus a small original chrome bust of the "Master" decorating the picking zone, a cast aluminium 'fretboard, then at the headstock end a unique and fully working tuner design (covered by a hand-shaped chrome plate not shown in these pics). 1940 Oahu acoustic
Circa 1940 Oahu 'Na Li'i' acoustic lap guitar, in excellent condition with original case in good shape. Made for Oahu by Regal in Chicago, the name translates from the Hawaiian as "The Chief" or "The King", and this model, although small bodied (as appropriate for lap style playing), was the top of the line with bound solid spruce top, laminated birch back and sides and unique metal pyramid bridge, all of which gives very good volume and tone to match the charm and rarity of this product of the early 20th century era of Hawaiian guitar music. |

1942 Gibson HG00
Hawaiian version of the famous L-00: double bound body with amber sunburst spruce top, mahogany back and sides, tiger stripe pickguard, pearl fretmarkers, three-on-a- plate tuners, X bracing. Due to WW2 steel restrictions no truss rod, but perfect straight V neck. neck width at the nut is a wide but comfy 1+13/16"; as a Hawaiian guitar the original set up was a high bone nut and straight bride saddle. This guitar has had pro set up with a low nut, new bridge with compensated saddle. Otherwise completely original, excellent condition, original case. Fantastic responsive and balanced tone - like a small J35 'Advanced Jumbo'. |

Circa 1950 Selmer Lap Steel
Ideal for exploring the wonderful world of lap steel, here's an interesting, original cool retro styled lap steel: an early 50's Selmer 'Goldtone' lap steel. Very clean and original with nicely aged gold finish, brass bridge plate with chicken head knobs and a hot single coil pickup. 1954 Gibson LG1
From the mid 1950's Gibson "Golden era", this 1954 LG1 has the desirable thin / tall bracing that featured until 1955. The fine sunburst spruce top, and mahogany back and sides are all in excellent condition, with the original finish in particularly good shape compared to most LGs that ones sees from the '50s. All original with a crisp detailed tone and smooth action especially suitable for fingerpicking. There are two marks (due to neoprene guitar stand reacting to lacquer) on the lower back and neck/headstock area. These are in the finish only and do not affect structure or playability. Older but not original hard case. A Lovely fingerpicker at a GREAT PRICE. |

Circa 1955 Gibson Consolette Dual 8 Steel
A very sweet sounding and original twin neck steel guitar that oozes 'Hank Williams' tone. Gibson afficionados note these interesting details: the body is Korina mahogany, the 'fretboards' are finished in Les Paul Goldtop lacquer, the P100 pickups (P90 style but wider, with cream covers) sound incredible, all electronics are original, tuners work well. Four legs screw in to the underside of body. Steel and four legs all pack into original Gibson pink plush lined leatherette case in very good condition. 1962 Harmony H74
Made in Chicago in 1962, here's a very nice example of one Harmony's up market thinline hollowbody guitars. Assymetrical "Tele style" double bound cutaway body in very attractive iced tea nitro finish, two DeArmond ('Ry Cooder') goldfoil pickups, 'cupcake' knobs, DeArmond engraved Bigsby, bound neck, metal (not stencilled) Harmony logo on headstock, good tuners, all works and plays as it should, great tone. 1963 Fender Stratocaster
L-series Stratocaster serial no. L167XX, originally Lake Placid Blue metallic, then refinned metallic green, then stripped to wood back in the '80s, this guitar has been in one family for a long time. Neck, frets with not too much wear, body with no routs, black bottom pickups with cloth wiring, bridge and other hardware are original. Tuners, pickguard, one pot, whammy bar and knobs are not. Original parts are not with the guitar, but the original two-tone grey, plush lined Stanford case is. Neck end is stamped Dec '63. 1967 Fender 'Coronadocaster'
Made by luthier Neil Laughlin in the early 1990s, this is a 1967 Fender Coronado bound neck with its original nitro finish, tuners, block markers, frets in good shape and neck plate with serial no. 1943xx, and a custom made Stratocater body in Olympic white, with tortoiseshell pickguard and late 1980s MIJ pickups, pots, bridge hardware etc. With the same scale length as a Stratocaster,the Coronado neck and Strat body works perfectly. Great to play, good tones on all pickups. The feel of a vintage neck, great looks and playability at a good price. Comfy weight 3.4 kg (7lbs 8oz). Comes with deluxe hard case. |

1970 Anson Stratocaster Copy
We often get asked for good examples of MIJ (made in japan) "lawsuit" era guitars. Particularly Strats and Les Pauls. Here's a great early - we're guessing around 1970 - MIJ Stratocaster in classic sunburst with maple cap maple neck, and everything working and feeling as it should. The neck pickup is original, the bridge a Seymour Duncan dated 1982 and the middle pickup a recent Fender reissue. A great guitar to play and looks very cool too. The brand is Anson - has all the indications of an early FujiGen Gakki product. Cool MIJ lawsuit era Strat. |

1971 Maton Classical
A very tidy and original Maton F10 nylon string guitar from February 1971. One owner, has rarely been played and is offered with the original black gig bag and strap. 2006 Gibson CJ-165 Rosewood
Lovely, as-new Gibson from Bozeman Montana, with smaller SJ200 body size. The top has 1930s style wide-scalloped X bracing under the sitka spruce with antique natural finish and a striking abalone soundhole rosette. The back and sides are premium (almost chocolate brown)Indian Rosewood. The neck has a soft V vintage profile, and the fingerboard is ebony as is the bridge. Tuners are mini Grovers. 1987 Marshall Silver Jubilee 50/25 1 x 12 combo amp
A fine example of this rare Marshall amp from their 25th anniversary year, finished in silver-grey tolex with chrome silver front panel instead of the usual gold brushed aluminium (later 2554s went to black tolex). In excellent condition. These amps have a 50w / 25 w feature by switching the output pentodes to triode mode for great tone at alternative volume levels. Cascading preamp for overdrive, all the Marshall tone you could want through the Celestion T3896 G12 Vintage 8 ohm speaker. Includes owner's manual but footswitch missing. 1920s Windsor 5 string 'Zither Banjo'
Another fabulous old time instrument, British made in the 1920s. The headstock has two x 3 tuners, however one tuner is not used and this is the 5 string original design. The high g string is channeled under the fret board (hence 'zither banjo' name). Oak body and neck with ebony headstock veneer. Neck is straight and vellum is in good condition, so plays well and sounds like it should. No hard case, but can provide banjo gig bag. Please enquire for more photos and information. |
